The Last 4 Years
Looking back on the past 4 years as Mayor, I am proud of many things that we have been able to accomplish. While keeping our portion of property tax increases to 3.1% we have been able to use creative and strategic financing to build new facilities and begin pursuing exciting long term plans for many others.
While the economic challenges are still creating a tough market, we are still seeing healthy development and lots of interest, and I truly believe that we are leaps and bounds ahead of any municipality in the region when it comes to creating employment opportunties.
I think it is important to be honest and clear when it comes to the goals and focus of your campaign, so to hold myself accountable, here's a flyer from the previous election and a summary of the progress I believe we've made on those topics.
Affordable Government:
-
When municipalities across the Province are raising taxes by 6 - 9%, over the past 4 years we have kept tax increases to 3.1%
-
The County is investing in County Road 10 and other areas of the Township
-
We have more than 200 acres of employment lands in various stages of development and now have ownership of the lands in Downtown Millbrook that have been holding back the village for decades
Address Health Care Needs:
-
The Township has taken control over the Millbrook Medical Centre ensuring it can continue to serve the community into the future
-
Serving on the committee overseeing the physician recruitment efforts of the County
-
Have created a dedicated reserve towards the future costs of a new medical centre
-
Successfully finished the new Fire Hall and Ambulance Bay to improve emergency response times in our Township
Responsible Development:
-
Working with the developers to try and obtain more diverse housing supply and acccessible units
-
Pursuing a serviced settlement area in Fraserville to balance development across the Township, creating jobs, protecting quality farmland, and limiting urban sprawl in the village of Millbrook
